A Socialist Movement

California Has Everything We Need

California is one of the richest places on Earth. Our hard work and know-how make us the fourth-largest economy in the world. Every year, workers in California create $4.1 trillion in wealth. We have the resources, the knowledge, and the technology to provide a dignified life for everyone who calls California home.

We can use these resources to radically transform our lives and our community.

We can end poverty, homelessness, racist and sexist discrimination. We can fully fund public schools and make our education system the best in the country. We can build world-class transit networks. We can provide universal healthcare so that everyone is able to visit the doctor without going into debt. We can make sure that nobody in California ever goes hungry, unhoused, or untreated ever again.

Everything we need is already here.

Wealth for the Few

Right now, our economy and our government are controlled by a tiny number of billionaires. California’s economy is planned by the rich, for the rich. They decide what gets built, what stays broken, and who gets left behind.

The result of this capitalist experiment has been a disaster. 194 billionaires in California own more than $1.2 trillion of wealth, while almost 8 million of us live in poverty. Our schools rank near the bottom of the nation — 37th out of 50 states. Homelessness is rising while luxury towers sit empty. Our tax dollars are spent on corporate handouts instead of housing, education, and healthcare.

Socialism is the Future

It doesn’t have to be this way. Rising poverty, homelessness, and costs of living are all part of the system of capitalism. The solution is socialism. Socialism is a system where the working-class has power and the economy is organized to meet the needs of working people.

Socialism means that we would all plan our economy for the public good. Instead of corporations deciding which projects are worth investing in, we would decide together how to use our shared resources: to end poverty, build transit, staff our schools, and ensure that everyone has what they need to live a dignified life.

Socialism is the common-sense idea that the people who create the wealth should also have the power.

We are the voice of the people

Meaningful change can’t come from one candidate or one election. It will come from all of us standing together. The billionaires have their parties, their politicians, and their lobbyists. Working people have our numbers, and our unshakeable willpower to fight for a better life. When we organize in our workplaces, in our neighborhoods, and at the ballot box, we can take back what’s ours.

The Vote Socialist California campaigns are one part of that fight. Every socialist running for office in California is helping to build something bigger than all of us: a movement to challenge the billionaire class and put power in the hands of working people.

Workers make California run. Workers should run California. Sign up to volunteer for the next canvass day or phone banking session to join the movement for a socialist future. Together we can end the rule of the billionaires and build a California for all of us.
